Brief Overview:

An undisputed legendary figure and pioneer to the genre, Kool G. Rap holds a very high and solid place on my list of greatest rappers of all-time. There are simply no better three consecutive albums by any rapper that I have ever heard of than G. Rap's first three. With Live and Let Die earning a perfect score of 10. He had an enormous impact on developing the "Mafioso Rap" sub-genre that countless rappers have later run with; with rapid-fire multi-syllable rhymes spit with machine gun like ferocity; a style seen in later rappers such as the late-great Big Pun. While some feel he "fell off" following his first few albums, his lyrical ability only improved as time went on, as he continued to drop excellent albums and scorch through guest verses. Excluding his last two efforts (or lack-therefore-of) his discography is required listening for any serious hip hop fan.
